Almost done.

I think the end of nursing is near, if not here already. I cannot remember the last time Nick nursed - it was either Friday or Saturday. I think it must have been Friday. I wish I remembered it specifically. I am sure we were in the Thomas bed and he probably latched and unlatched a couple of times and then announced he was done so we could read stories with daddy. Saturday we had dinner with his friend Emily and he fell asleep on the way home, but he woke up when I tried to transfer him and watched one show and then I took him upstairs and cuddled him. Sunday night he fell asleep in the car looking at Christmas lights and transferred to bed pretty easily. Last night we read two stories and then I cuddled him, but he didn't ask to nurse and I didn't offer. Tonight we watched A Christmas Carol and then I took him upstairs and cuddled him, and he didn't ask and I didn't offer. We'll see what tomorrow brings . . .

Flipping the Bird.

America's Test Kitchen said to protect the breast meat, you should start roasting your turkey upside down, then flip the bird to brown the breast-side skin the last hour. Well, flipping the bird is hard when your bird weighs 21 lbs! It looks like a train wreck but it still tasted fine and the skin was delish!

Debt-Free.

Tonight Jeff and I made the final payment on my student loans. I was given 20 years to pay back my loans, so we finished paying them back about 16 years early. It won't feel real until we have our first monthly budget that doesn't include a student loan payment. But it does feel pretty good :)

Last day.

Today was my last day at a law firm where I have worked for just shy of nine years. They took a chance and hired a girl who had never worked in the legal field, and saw me through a lot - law school, marriage, motherhood, the loss of my mother. I was the first associate they ever had and I would like to think that I became so indispensable that they will always have one now. It is hard to believe I no longer work there, but I am excited for my next challenge, which starts on Monday. No rest for the wicked!
